Robert "Bobby" T. Hoffpauir

Robert "Bobby" Tyler Hoffpauir of Beaumont graduated to glory in the early morning of Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was a present part of so many lives - to know him was to love him. He had a kind, gentle and loving spirit. He was generous, fun-loving, and had a great sense of humor.

He grew up in Groves with his parents John and Lois Hoffpauir and younger brother Jeff, and graduated from Port Neches High School where he was involved in sports and music. While he played the trumpet in the band, his love of music was mostly expressed while playing the "keys" in many bands throughout the years with his "B" (Hammond B-3 organ) with him on most of his gigs. Water sports were also a big interest for him, especially swimming and surfing with friends. He had a life-long passion for baseball - playing, coaching, and spectating - and he spent many years riding and racing motorcycles. Bobby was blessed to have family that loved him, including the extended family of friends that he grew up with and stayed close with for decades. His affection for his grandbabies was greatest of all. While he grieved heavily when he lost the love of his life Kim (2021) and youngest son Kevin (2022), his love of the Lord helped him to begin healing his broken heart. Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God" was a verse that helped to console him. All the family and friends that remained, rallied around him to provide care and comfort for which he was always grateful and felt blessed to have.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, John E. Hoffpauir, Sr.; mother, Lois Lanier and stepfather Dr. Ernest Lanier; his beloved wife of 43 years, Kimberly "Kim" Ann Hoffpauir; and their son, Kevin Ray Hoffpauir.

Those left to cherish Bobby include brother Jeffrey Hoffpauir and wife Lequita of South Toledo Bend; daughter, Shana Jones and husband Wil of Austin; son, Kristopher Hoffpauir and wife Misty of Groves; daughter-in-law, Miranda Hoffpauir of Nederland; brothers-in-law, Dennis Neie and wife Audrey, Steve Neie and wife Stacy, Gary Neie and wife Christine, and Robbie Neie and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Sara Kaye Hoffpauir, Gianna "Gigi" Jones, Kimber Hoffpauir, and Makenna Hoffpauir; also, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Bobby always said, "Every Day is a Gift" and every day was a gift to everyone who knew and loved him.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Bobby’s Life to begin at 2:00 p.m., at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland. Cremation Services are under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home.

Bobby was a childhood friend. We grew up on the same street but he was closer in age to my big brothers. He was always smiling and so cute. All the girls had a crush on him. Especially when he started his band. I remember everyone used to crowd around his home’s porch to hear & watch him play through the front doorway. I loved him and am so sorry to hear this.

I first met Bobby when he worked at Texaco Marine Service on Texas Island, back in the late 70s. He was soft-spoken and easy to work with; we were both new to the ship agency business and I ran into him here and there over the years. When Kim died, I sent him a link to the song "Scars in Heaven" that had just hit the airwaves. He said that song touched him deeply and thanked me for sending it. I'll never hear it again without thinking of him. I know that he's at peace now because he is back with Kim. I hope and pray that you all remember him as I do, and you can smile, and then thank God that you had a chance to know him.

I knew him as Bobby during our high school years. A wonderful friend who was loved by all and who was such a talented musician. I remember being in his parent’s home listening to him play classical music on the piano so beautifully. Bobby went on to have a positive impact on so many lives and brought peace and joy to countless others. May God continue to bless him on this journey and bring comfort to his beloved family.

I have such fond memories of Bob! He shared his love for his wife and family, his love for his job at Port Arthur International Seafarers Center, and his passion for life. He called me Winnie because he said it was easier to remember . My students and I volunteered during Christmas at Sea. I still volunteer when needed and always enjoyed working alongside Bob. Family, you have precious memories of a wonderful man. So do all he ever met, a wonderful man to call my friend.‍🩹:revolving_hearts:

Jeff probably want remember this but his mom and mine worked together at Texaco Island some70 years ago and our families were ver y close back in the day. Bobby was the first person I ever spent the night with then we spent our childhood playing base baseball together. He never change in all those years. He was always kind, never controversial and just a sweet guy. I recently reconnected with Bobby after moving to Beaumont and had the opportunity to pray with him. He was spiritual sound, did not fear death and loved the Lord. He always appreciated time he spent with friends. He surly will be missed.
