Robert H. "Bob" Seelen, 91, of Groves, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Promise Hospital in Nederland, Texas. Bob was born June l, 1919 in Port Arthur, Texas to Robert Harry Seelen, Sr. and Romona Ortega Seelen. He was a lifelong area resident and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He retired from the Research Department of Texaco and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; three half-brothers, Edward Davis, Raymond Davis, and Jerry Davis; one half-sister, Mary Davis. Survivors include his wife, Laura D. Seelen of Groves, TX; four step-sons, Dan Duplantis and wife, Anita of Tampa, FL, Rick Duplantis and wife, Monica of Orlando, FL, Jon Duplantis and wife, Karen of Corpus Christi, TX, Mark Duplantis and wife, Jody of Orlando, FL; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend Richard Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Seelen, This is Gerald Morrell, Bobs old neighbor, I grew up in front of Bob's house on 34th Street 62 years ago. Sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I remember seeing you all in the deparment stores. You were so loved by Bob, I know His passing will be very sad to You. He was so loved by my whole family,and You as well. Dear Aunt Laura and Family, We are so sorry for your loss. You and Uncle Bob are very special people to us. You both lit up every room with your scincerity, laughter and smiles. The love that the two of you have was truley genuine. He will be deeply missed and deffinatly never forgotten.I can still him joking around with our girls. Mom, Laura, Grossmutter, Mrs.D., Mrs. Seelen... We all know Bob was the best thing that ever happened for you & also you for him. He just took on a whole lot more family & extended family even the 5th son... It was my honor to know Bob and to relize that he is now at peace, not suffering any longer. Bob was a good man and a great 2nd Step Dad... Our Prayers are With you Always...
