Robert "Bobby" Norton Sipole

1941 ∼ 2015

Robert “Bobby” Norton Sipole, age 74, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. He was born on January 31, 1941 in Port Arthur to the late Joseph William Sipole and Mary Louise Patin.

Bobby served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 33 in Beaumont and also an American Legion Rider. His family say that Bobby was “The Boat Master”; he was known to have quite a collection. Bobby and his nephew, Donny, used to go fishing quite a bit when Donny was younger, and he loved spending time on those trips with him.

Bobby is survived by his sister, Elisabeth Walthour; nephew, Donny Small and family; niece, Dawn Moses and family; and niece, Tiffany Walthour.

Bobby’s family would like to share one of their fondest memories with you all.

“Bobby and his brother, Joe, wanted to go to an out of town football game. Mom and Dad both said ‘No’, but they had their minds made up, so they snuck out of their room by climbing down the T.V. antenna, and they hitchhiked to the game.

After the game, they hitched a ride home. Instead, they fell asleep on the way home, and ended up in Lake Charles. The driver never told the boys he was going to Lake Charles, and Bobby and Joe just thought he was headed back to Nederland.

In Lake Charles, the driver decided the boys needed to get home, so he went to a police station where they called Bobby and Joe’s dad to pick them up.”

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #493 in Nederland.

Bobby was loving to those who knew him and will be missed by all his family and friends.

Bob worked with me when I moved to Beaumont in 1970 with SCM Corporation. He was the most dedicated man in his work that I have ever met. His territory covered East Texas , up to Nacogdoches. Most service techs would come to the office, then head out to a customer's office. Not Bob........he would be setting at the customer's office in Nacogdoches when they opened up. Other than a fellow worker, he quickly became one of the best friends a guy could have. Once setting out in Lake Sabine in his boat, which was named "Me Oh My' he ask me what I thouhgt all the poor people back in Beaumont were doing. I responded... I don'f know about those in Beaumont, but two of them were in this boat, having a cool brew, listening to good music, and not doing much fishing. I was always welcomed at his home and had my feet under Audrey's kitchen table many times. I just learned of Bob's passing today. I feel a loss just knowing that we will not have those occassional meetings in the future. My prayers are with Bob's family.

My Paw-Paw Bob was one of the funnest people I have ever known. As his oldest granddaughter I have many memories from working with him at his business A&B Office Equipment to watching the Dallas Cowboys every time they played to watching boxing when it was boxing and I will never forget the countless weekends and summer days spent at "The Farm". On behalf of the rest of his grandkids, Billy and Suzanne, we want to say thank you Paw-Paw for all the great memories and the stories we get to share with your great-grandkids, Madison, Blythe, Skyler, Tristin, Corlie, Will Cody, Jeremiah and Laynie. We love you, Jenny

Bobby was a great friend in Nederland high school. Later, he and I crossed paths when I was an IRS agent in Beaumont and even later, he came up to Brookeland high school to service one of our Xerox machines. I remember one morning at NHS an announcement was made about not holding hands in the hall between classes. Bobby got the bright idea that he and I would hold hands and go to class like that. We got a lot of laughs until our biology teacher sent us to the office to tell the asst. principal, Vernon Ramke, what we did. He didn't see the humor in what we did so, he busted our tails and sent us back to class. Bobby, I hope to see you again when we all cross over to the other side. God Bless and keep you until then. I worked for Bob, as I knew him, for about 2 years in his business machine business in Beaumont. He was a good man and many people would just stop by to have coffee with him. Sorry to hear of this loss, but he served us all well, even his step children.Jean Parigi
