Robert Edward Slaughter, III, 86, of Orange, Texas passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Robert was born February 28, 1930 in Port Arthur, Texas to Robert Edward Slaughter and Ruby Viola Allen Slaughter. He was raised in Port Arthur and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mauriceville. He retired as a supervisor from Gulf Oil/Chevron after 38 years of service. He proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict in the 1st Guided Missile Battalion for 2 years. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Juanita Slaughter of Orange, TX; daughter, Susanne Elisabeth Jordan and her husband Edward of Huntsville, AL; sons, Brant Robert Slaughter of Nederland, TX, and Jon Randy Slaughter of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren, Christi Slaughter, Traci Mitchell and her husband Jeremy, Kayla Ainsworth and her husband Ben, Miller Jordan, Emi Jordan, Rob Cully Jordan; great-grandchildren, Kylie Romero and Penelope Ainsworth. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 at Levingston Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Kevin Brown officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Friends wishing to make memorial contributions may send them to their charity of choice.
