Roger Dale Hendricks, 70, of Port Neches, Texas passed away September 5, 2021. He was born in Vidor, Texas on October 20, 1950. Roger retired from the U. S. Navy where he served his country proudly during the Vietnam Era and Desert Storm. He received many medals including the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the Battle Efficiency Award, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and Letter of Commendation. Roger was also educated and skilled in Military Financial Management for Naval Aviation Operating Target Accounting. To say the least, Roger loved his country.
Those left to cherish Roger’s memory are his children, Krissy Mills, Timmie Hendricks, Ann Acosta and her husband Carlos, Beverly Lewis and her husband Troy, Eddie Shamp, and Michael Shamp and his wife Lisa; his grandchildfren, Zachery Walters, Lauren Hendricks, Christian Hendricks, Stacey Kurth, Patrick Gonzales, Matthew Gonzales, Tara Smith, Tessa Shamp, Eddie Shamp, Thomas Shamp, Aaron Shamp, and Joseph Shamp; 13 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Donnie Hendricks, Dennis Hendricks, and Darrell Hendricks and his wife Beth. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nataline “Joyce” Hendricks; his father, Donald Charles Hendricks; and his brother, Victor Hendricks.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 2:15 p.m.
