Ronald Dean Holmes, 85, of Beauxart Gardens, Texas passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at his residence in Beauxart Gardens.
Ronald was born on October 4, 1936, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Laura Alice Ridgeway Holmes and George Rex Holmes. He graduated from Artesia High School in Artesia, New Mexico. Ronald was a retired Engineer for Aarco Refinery and the Texas State Prison system. Ronald was a Mason and received their highest honor award. He was a Cowboy and a member of the Cherokee Nation and a Citizen of the Cherokee Nation. He was always up for anything! He loved riding horses and he loved his best friend, his dog Cisco. Ronald was considered an outdoors man; he loved to fish and hunt.
Ronald is survived by his daughter, Tracie "Padma" Brace and her husband Dr. Paul Hatton of Houston, Texas; sons, Les Holmes and his wife Jaliene of Orange and Keith Holmes of Nederland; grandchildren Summer Bright, Stefanie Bright-Burnett and her husband James Burnett, Garrett Holmes, Tana Holmes and her fiancé Kelby, Logan Holmes and his wife Chasity, Stacy Gary and her husband Jared, Kennadi Bellow and Taylor Bagett; great grandchildren, Easton Holmes, Maverick Holmes, Saylor Holmes, Corbin Simpson, Harper Holmes, Lawsen Gary, Leyton Gary, Loren Gary, Landrie Gary, Brooklyn Bagett; great grandchildren, Brayden Barnett, Onyx Hoyler, Stella Bright-Debbrecht, Servetta Bright-Debbrecht, Sofiah Bright and Stryder Bright-Burnett; cousins; Dr. Kathleen Whitaker of California, David Glen Ridgeway of Montana and Russell Umbraco of Nevada.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, George and Laura Holmes; his daughter, Lisa Bellow; grandsons, Trey Barnett and Tyler Troy Holmes; and his Beloved wife Barbara Sue “Budgie” Holmes.
A visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland with a “Celebration of Life” Memorial Service to Honor the Memory of Ronald Dean Holmes to be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Melancon Funeral Home. Private Cremation services will be conducted at a later date.
