Rosa Lea Hunt, 94, of Port Neches, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2023, surrounded by her family, and joined the love of her life, our dad, in Heaven.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, May 28. 2023, at 3:00 p.m., at City Cemetery in Jacksonville, Texas.

Rosa Lea was born near Jacksonville, Texas, on December 1, 1928, to Bobbie Opal Blanton and Coy Jones. She was raised by her mother and loving stepfather, Moody Blanton. She grew up in Jacksonville and moved to Nederland and then Port Neches as a young girl. Mom was a member of Procter Baptist Church of Port Arthur. Mom met Daddy in 1946 and they married in 1947, and they were married for almost seventy years at the time of Daddy’s death in 2016. They were devoted to one another and together raised our family in Port Neches. They retired and moved to Pineland and spent almost thirty years there before returning to Port Neches in 2012. Mom was an incredibly talented seamstress and could make anything anybody needed whether it was a new dress from a picture in a catalog, a wedding dress, custom curtains, or even dance and Halloween costumes. She even taught her own home economics class how to make bound buttonholes. Mom had the heart of a servant and loved taking care of others in any way she could whether it was with her wonderful cooking, offering her home to those in need, or sitting and attending to sick or ailing family and friends. Our mom was the most loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William “Bill” Hunt, and daughter-in-law, Roz Hunt.

She is survived by her by her son, Hiram Hunt, daughter, Kathy Addison, son-in-law (who she considered to be a son), Tommy Addison, all of Port Neches; her grandsons, Bryant Hunt of Port Neches, Cody Addison, and wife Brianne, of Cedar Park, and her granddaughter, Leah Addison of Baton Rouge. She also has three great-grandchildren that she dearly loved, Annie Elise Addison, Edie Mae Addison, and William Addison Merritt.

Our family wants to extend a special thanks to Tori, Destany, Tiffany, Brother David, and many others from Hospice Plus, the wonderfully caring staff at The Cascades of Port Arthur, and the many wonderful friends she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Nutrition & Services for Seniors (Meals on Wheels), 4590 Concord Road, Beaumont, Texas, 77703, or a charity of your choice.
