Rose W. Lohmann, age 88, died on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Magnolia Manor in Groves, Texas. She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on December 18, 1923 to Francis E. and Myrtle A. Winn. Rose attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, VA, Norfolk Business College in Norfolk, VA, and Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She worked for several businesses in Virginia and for the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot in Portsmouth, VA where she met George, who was stationed there in the Navy. Rose and George were married on August 29, 1946 and came to Port Arthur to live. Rose was a longtime member of the United Methodist Temple where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Department Club of Port Arthur, the Port Arthur Service League, the Knife and Fork Club, the Lioness Club, the Community Concert Association, and the Parent Teacher Association. Rose is predeceased by her parents, and her husband of 61 years, George V. Lohmann. She is survived by sons, David Lohmann and wife, Lorna of Colorado Springs, CO, and Roger Lohmann of Buda, TX; daughters, Joan Hesslink of Conroe, TX, and Julie Lohmann of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012 at Levingston Funeral Home with Dr. Jesse Brannen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
