Roseann “Rosie” Crenshaw, a beloved resident of Purvis, Mississippi and formerly of Port Arthur, gracefully departed this earthly realm on Monday, December 11, 2023, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
Funeral services will follow on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Officiating will be Reverend Joseph King. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Rosie was born on March 8, 1933, in Huron, South Dakota, to Hiram Stam and Mary Irene Stam. She was a woman of strength and integrity. She proudly served her country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1954, demonstrating unwavering patriotism and selflessness. Throughout her life, Rosie embraced her faith and was an active member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Port Arthur. She also found solace in the beauty and creativity of art, becoming a cherished member of the Texas Art Museum. Additionally, she made lasting connections as a former member of the Eastern Star of Groves Chapter#953 and contributed to the safety of her community by actively participating in the neighborhood watch for the Griffin Park area. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club. Rosie will forever be remembered for her vibrant spirit and loving nature. Her husband of forty-eight years, Ottis Crenshaw, was her companion throughout life's journey, and they shared countless cherished moments together.
Rosie's memory will also be treasured by her surviving daughter, Peggy King of Purvis, MS, formerly a resident of Groves. To carry on her legacy of love and compassion, Rosie leaves behind two adoring grandchildren: Joseph King and his wife Joanna of Purvis, MS; and Heather Williams and her devoted husband Chuck of Port Neches, TX. Her spirit will forever glow in the hearts of her five great-grandchildren: Anna, Addie, Asher, and Abel King; as well as Chase Williams. Family of the heart include Charles Short, Rem Batuyong, Emy Batuyong, RB Batuyong, Jen Batuyong, RJ Batuyong, Kendal Batuyong, Mollie Batuyong, Eden Batuyong, and Ames Batuyong.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Ottis Crenshaw and four dear sisters - Juanita Lueth, Darleen Ames, Shirleen
King, and Edith Stam – Rosie's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gideon Bibles and the Humane Society.
