A Life Remembered

Obituary

Rosemary Roy passed away on August 31, 2026, at Bonne Vie Nursing Home in Port Arthur, Texas. She was born on October 25, 1931, in Opelousas, Louisiana to Golden and Juanita Marie Cuny. She was the eldest of nine siblings.

Rosemary attended nursing school in Texas where she met Buster Roy. The two were married in 1952. They settled in Port Arthur where they raised their two children, Kim and Dann.

They were lifelong members of St. Catherine Catholic Church where Rosemary was a member of the Altar Society for many years.

As an RN, Rosemary worked at St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur as a relief charge nurse until the late 1980's.

Rosemary and Buster were avid square dancers. Early on in their marriage, they had their own square dancing called "Shirts and Skirts." Buster was a square dance caller and they made many lifelong friends while pursuing their hobby.

As a family, they enjoyed fishing and camping. They had a camp near the Big Thicket where they enjoyed being together in the great outdoors.

Rosemary had quite a green thumb and loved beautiful plants. Buster shared her interest and their yard was always one of the nicest in the neighborhood.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benjamin "Buster" Roy. She is survived by her two children, Kim Orgeron (Sammy Orgeron, deceased) of Huffman, Texas and Dann Roy and his wife, Christine o f Roseville, Minnesota. Rosemary also leaves behind three grandchildren: Natalie Yeldell and her wife, Cherry, Timothy Roy and his wife, Sarah Bauer, and Derek Orgeron and her great-grandchildren, Lola Orgeron and Sage Yeldell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 20, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Texas. Following the Mass, a graveside service and interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.

Rosemary will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.

The family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bonne Vie and also, Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving care they extended to Rosemary.

When my mom was a resident at BonneVie I volunteered in the activity room right across the hall from Rosemarys room. Everyone loved her and yes we loved her little chuckle! Such a sweet lady.

Maw Maw, Thank you for all the years of love and memories I have as a child and into my adulthood. You took great care of me when I was with you and I always felt love and light from you. I loved your spunk and love for garage sales. I loved going to church and grocery shopping with you when I was a little girl. You always had candy for us under your coffee table when we visited. You had a little spot for books, toys and card games for us to play with. You always let us take over the tv and put on our kids shows. You never raised your voice unless you absolutely needed to. You always had a smile and a chuckle to give. Your home was cozy and clean. I miss swinging on the big swing in front of your house. Caffeine free Cola cola, Marble Slab wheat cones with chocolate ice cream, Irish spring soap and Captain Crunch Peanut Butter cereal will always remind me of you. Thank you for being apart of my life. If only we had more time but I know you are at peace and reconnected with Paw Paw and loved ones in Heaven. We love you and will miss you very much. Love, Natalie, Cherry, Lola and Sage.
