Roy was one of my best friends and we shared so many memories together in high school. He was just an awesome person. When I saw the movie, The Blind Side, I immediately thought of Roy. As quarterback on the East Chambers football team and with Roy as my protective lineman, I always knew that I was safe!! To the Gaspard familes y'all were always so loving and good to me and I am so sorry for your loss. My life was so much the better because of Roy and his parents and siblings, thank you and God bless....

I coached with Roy at PNG High School. Roy was a good man from a great family. He cared about the kids and was a great friend to work with. He was funny and smart. His Alvin Dupree joke was one of the best! I count myself lucky to have known him and his extended family at PNG. Rest In Peace Roy. Heaven gained a real saint. Prayers for his loving family. Coach Gaspard was absolutely one of my favorite coaches and teachers. There are so many fond memories from my past that involve Coach Gaspard. He was my track, football, and basketball coach, as well as my science teacher at Port Neches Middle School. Coach knew when it was time to be hard on us, but also never missed a chance to tell us how good of a job we were doing. I remember joking and laughing with him about his old beat up car he used to drive to practice like it was yesterday. I'll never forget how truly compassionate Coach Gaspard was about teaching his students and ensuring that his athletes stood out on and off the field. I can't explain how much of an honor it was to have known Coach Gaspard, and can truly say he made an impact on my life. I'll miss you coach. Caleb Harmon

He was a good role model for students and athletes.I love Roy ,he could tell the best Cajun jokes.I would encourage him to tell jokes to keep our coaches meetings fun.His facial expressions were classic..Roy was a scholarship football player at Lamar University.Roy played defensive end and was a tough competitor on the field and a wonderful caring man off.He taught my 3 children and they all loved him too. Sometimes God takes some of the best people. Roy always made everyone feel secure in his friendship, yes he was my cousin but more than that he always made me feel more than that. God took an angel and I know a lot of you will probably laugh but angels come in many sizes and looks. He always made you laugh and made your world a little brighter. Arlene I am praying for all of you during this very difficult time. But if there is one thing I do know "God has his hands full in heaven with the bunch of family that is up there now". Love you Roy! The Otto Gaspard Family and the Nick Grivich Family were next door neighbors during our growing-up years in Winnie, TX. My brother, Pat, and Roy were classmates and played all the sports together at East Chambers High School. I loved Roy. He always made me laugh with his GREAT personality. Everyone was drawn to Roy...he was a bright light!! And, he was always so nice and good to me...the neighbor kid that was always hanging around their house. God bless and comfort Arlene & family and the whole Gaspard Family... In prayer and with much love, Leanne Grivich Woodward
