Ruby Davidson joined her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 2, 2015. Born in Washington, Louisiana to George Richard and Edes Thibodeaux on June 14, 1926. She went through school in Louisiana and married Emery Touchette in 1947. They were married for 27 years when he died in 1972. They had a son, George and daughter, Dolores. In 1974 she met and married Bruce Davidson. They lived a great life together, traveling in their motor home, going on cruises, a trip to France and many places they loved to visit. Ruby and Bruce enjoyed dinner and traveling with the “Supper Club.” She loved him and took care of him until he passed away in 2009. Momme loved her family and friends. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruby was a devoted catholic and would attend services weekly at St. Elizabeth in Port Neches. She was extremely active until just before she died. A huge sports fan, you could ask her anything about the Houston Texans, Astros or Rockets and she could give you an answer. She and her life long friend John would spend hours on the phone talking about sports. Ruby valued all of her extended family. She spent many years in Holly Beach at the family beach house hosting family reunions for the Thibodeaux family. To many in the family, she was known as “Nanny” as she was godmother to many in the family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Riley Richard “Pampi’, son George Touchette, and both husbands Emery and Bruce.
Left to cherish her memories are: daughter Dolores Touchette Flower and husband George, grandchildren, Bert Bassett, wife Carolina, Brock Bassett, Brooke Bassett Saurage and fiance’ Matt Dallas, great grandchildren, Braden and Addyson Saurage and Gaia Bassett. Step sons: Mark Davidson and his daughters Melanie Rutledge-Wylie and Jessica Davidson and their children, Randy Davidson and his children, Crystal Davidson, Christi Davidson and their children, and step daughter Dicy Davidson Rowlls and her daughter Stacey Brady and her children. Many extended family members and numerous friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 pm with Rosary to begin at 6:00 pm at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, Texas with entombment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Arthur.
