Ruth R. Cole

Ruth R. Cole, 91, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was born on March 24, 1924 in Eldorado, Arkansas to the late Charlie and Bertha Burnaman. Ruth attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland.
Ruth worked on the family farm, she was a nurse, worked as a welder during WWII, the GA Director of Central Baptist Church, Manager of One Hour Martinizing, and she was a Master Pie and Cake Baker.
Ruth is survived by her children, Enoch “Skip” Cole of Alexandria, LA, Melda R. Ward and husband, Gilbert of Nederland, Charles H. Cole and wife, Tammy of Port Arthur; brother, Charlie A. Burnaman of Vidor; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin L. Cole; parents, Charlie and Bertha Burnaman; brothers, Rudy Burnaman, Ray Burnaman, and Wayne Burnaman; and sisters, Theresa Hudgens and Mattie Lou Clopton.
Funeral Services will held at Fellowship Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
