Ruthie Nell Singleton

Ruthie Nell Singleton, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,

great-great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in

Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 88.

Born on August 24, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas, Ruthie lived a life defined by love, kindness,

service, and an unwavering devotion to her family. From an early age, she embraced life with

enthusiasm and determination. She was especially proud to have been the first Drum Major at Port

Neches-Groves High School, a distinction that reflected her spirited nature and the enthusiasm she

brought to all that she did throughout her life.

A proud graduate with a bachelor's degree, Ruthie enjoyed a fulfilling career as a dental hygienist.

For more than 40 years, she cared for patients throughout the Golden Triangle, building lasting

relationships and earning the trust of generations of families. Her dedication to her profession was

evident in the fact that she spent her entire career serving patients from the same office location.

She truly loved her work and valued the relationships she built with her patients and colleagues

throughout the years. Her warm smile, caring nature, and genuine interest in others left a lasting

impression on everyone she met.

Family was at the heart of Ruthie's life. She found her greatest joy in being surrounded by those

she loved and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Her selfless nature was evident

throughout her life, particularly in the devoted care she provided to her husband and mother-in-law.

She was known for her unmistakable laugh, a sound that could instantly brighten a room and bring

joy to family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Ruthie also had a love for travel and adventure. Whether exploring the beauty of Alaska or

experiencing the rich history and culture of Italy, she embraced every opportunity to see the world

and create lasting memories. Her vibrant spirit, positive outlook, and appreciation for life's

experiences touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A longtime member of First Baptist Church of Groves, Ruthie's faith and fellowship were meaningful

parts of her life and helped shape the values of compassion, generosity, and love that she shared

so freely with others.

She is survived by her sons, Joel Singleton and his wife, Vicki, and Alan Singleton and his wife,

Janet; her daughter, Marla Singleton; and her beloved grandchildren, Cari Fratus and her husband,

Billy; Shari Strange and her husband, Tim; Michael Singleton; James Singleton; and Noah Boyd.

She was a proud great-grandmother to Eric Monteau and his wife, Cara; Conner Strange; and

Sawyer Strange; and a treasured great-great-grandmother to Carter Monteau. She also leaves

behind her beloved French Bulldog, Zeke, who brought her great companionship and joy.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Warren Singleton, and her parents, Frank

and Edith Cox.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ruthie's remarkable life and legacy. Visitation will be

held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Melancon Levingston Funeral

Home, 5601 39th Street, Groves, Texas 77619. Visitation will resume on Friday, June 12, 2026,

immediately follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 618 Block Street, Port Neches, Texas 77651.

Ruthie's legacy is one of unwavering love, boundless joy, and steadfast devotion to her family and

friends. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the warmth she shared, the

laughter she inspired, and the countless lives she touched. Though she is no longer with us, her

spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her
