Sally Goss Barlow, 74 years old, born in Hillsboro, Texas and long-time resident of Port Arthur, Texas, was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 6th, 2021. Sally was born on July 19th, 1947 to Earl Warren (Doub) Goss II and Jessie Sain Goss. She is survived by her two brothers, Earl Warren Goss III and wife Janna, Joseph Robert Goss and wife Victoria, her twin sister Sandra Goss Tankersley, her son Ronald Paul Barlow, and granddaughter Layla Aleece Chisholm. She was the beloved aunt of Mark Goss, Jeff Haney, LeAnn Chisholm, Marianne Hunt and husband Johnny Hunt, Justin Goss and wife Kaitlyn, Geoffrey Goss and wife Julie, Emily Ann Larsen and husband Kurtis, and Sarah Goss Still and husband Greg, numerous great nieces and nephews, and a beloved friend to many.
She was a long-time servant of the Lord, ordained minister, Hebrew scholar, missionary to Jamaica, and part of a prison ministry here in the US. She was a worshiper with a beautiful voice who wrote her own worship songs accompanied by her ability to play acoustic guitar. She was on hospice and comforted to know she would soon have a perfect body and worship the Lord for the remainder of all time in heaven.
She was also a skilled bookkeeper and made many friends through her long-time service, particularly her service to Beaumont Sound.
Sally freely shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with all she came across, especially her family. She frequently brought her nieces and nephews to church and consistently poured God’s word into her granddaughter ever since Layla was a baby.
Sally transitioned peacefully to heaven with a smile on her face. One of her friends in ministry wrote this poem for her many years ago which describes her so well.
Sally Goss
Willingly you gave yourself
To be to all a friend,
Even when it meant that you
Would of your own lives spend,
Thankfully you gave your time
And efforts to the Lord,
Helping his dear creatures as
You served with one accord.
Always you allowed your Lord
To do His work through you;
Never did you count the cost
Though it did much accrue.
Kept you not a record of
The deeds you did for Him,
Yet the Lord has marked them down
And noted all of them.
O how we do thank the Lord
For all that you have giv’n
Unto those who need your love;
It’s marked by God, in heav’n.

Oh that these words would be said of each of us! We believe the Lord is saying “Well done, good and faithful servant” and “Welcome Home.”
A memorial service to honor Sally’s life will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Encounter Church in Groves, TX.
