March 27, 1929 — September 23, 2014

Sam Distefano, 85, of Nederland, Texas passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. He was born March 27, 1929 in Port Arthur, TX to the late, Joseph Distefano and Mary Pecorino. He served his country in the U. S. Army. He worked as a Barber for many years and was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.

Sam is survived by his wife, Norma of Nederland; daughter, Jennifer Rosetta of Lumberton; sons, David Distefano; Gregory Distefano; Sam Distefano; Chris Distefano, of Nederland; Eugene Distefano of Spurger; sisters, Frances Cascio; Bette Vardiman; Phyllis Smith; Lucille Piazza; brothers, Louis Distefano; Fred Distefano; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his brothers, Msgr. John Distefano; Joseph Distefano; sister, Mary Ann Hughes.

Funeral Services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Texas,
Msgr. Dan Malain, officiating. A gathering of family and friends with be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014, with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
