Sam Verde, 89, of Port Neches, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at his residence in Port Neches. Sam was born January 21, 1928 in Beaumont, TX to the late Mike Verde and Catherine Capo Verde. Sam’s career was in sales and management with Consolidated Cigar Company. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, TX and a dedicated volunteer with the Julie Rogers Gift of Life Program.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, LaQuita Herrington Verde of Port Neches; daughters, Rebecca Windham and husband, Ron of Frisco, TX, Deborah Wallace of Nederland, Kim Stagg and husband, Cliff of San Antonio, TX; brother, Coley Verde and wife, Neoma of Nederland and J.C. Verde and wife, Verna of Port Arthur, TX; grandchildren, Lauren Harris and husband, Matt, Blake Sparks and husband, Adam, Ronny Catherine Windham, Zachary Wallace, Savannah Stagg, and Colton Stagg; great-grandchildren, Layne, Wheeler and Sam Harris and numerous loving brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jake and Vick Verde, and nephew, Robert Verde.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, TX. A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Father Shane Baxter on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, TX with a burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, TX.
