Jack Matthews, Jr., 82, of Port Neches, passed away on December 18, 2012, at his residence. Jack was born on October 14, 1930, in Houston, Texas, to Jack Matthews, Sr. and Julia Matthews. He grew up in Marshall, Texas. Jack retired from Chevron U.S.A. (formerly Gulf Oil Corporation) with 33 years of service as a cost analyst. He enjoyed golf and table tennis in his younger days. He loved the Lord, and he loved his church, First Baptist Church of Port Arthur. For many years, he taught a men's Sunday School class. He also served on the church's Finance Committee and Teller Committee. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Vanessa Matthews. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elaine, and children, Jill Bogan-Risley and husband Allyn of Houston, King Matthews of Shreveport, Julia Benton and husband, Wayne of Marshall, and Jackie Lozano and husband, Greg of Port Neches. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Erica Frost and Natalie Morgan of Houston, Michael Benton of Marshall, Joel Lozano of Port Neches, Mike Risley of Oklahoma City, and Jessica Risley of Lima, Peru. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 20, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be on Friday, December 21, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastors Don Falke and Kyle Morton officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity or First Baptist Church of Port Arthur, Texas.
