Sandra Lee Lawhon

1961 ∼ 2026

Sandra Lee Lawhon, born on September 8, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, departed this life on January 12, 2026, in Port Arthur, Texas. A devoted homemaker and a faithful believer in Christ, Sandra's life can be defined by her unwavering love for her family and her vibrant spirit that resonated with all who knew her.

Raised in the bustling city of Houston, Sandra blossomed into a social butterfly that loved to tell stories about her loved ones. Her personality illuminated the lives of many, as she had a remarkable ability to make family and friends feel uniquely special. She cherished her role as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, with her family always at the heart of her being. Sandra was a proud mother to her children: daughter Natasha Gamblin, and her husband Preston; son Steven Brant; and daughter Taylor Peabody. Her grandchildren—Derek Carter, Kollby Carter, Ryan Carter, Hunter Gamblin and his wife Brianna, Baylee Gamblin, and Caden Gamblin—were her pride and joy. Additionally, she took immense pleasure in her great-grandchildren, Walker Carter, Josie Carter, Oliver Abshire, and Finnley Abshire, who brought her boundless happiness.

A nurturing spirit, Sandra also shared a deep bond with her sisters Dana Silcox, Jennie Silcox, and Kimberly Silcox, providing love and support to one another throughout their lives. Her legacy will be carried on by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.

Sandra will be remembered not only for her devotion to her family but also for her simple pleasures: she found comfort in watching soap operas and often delighted in sharing those moments with her loved ones.

Sadly, she is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Shirley Silcox; father, Floyd Lawhon; step-father, Tom Frank Silcox; her grandson, Kollsen Carter; and her dear companion of 14 years, Terry Lee Bowman. Their memories will forever hold a cherished place in her family's hearts.

The celebration of Sandra's life will take place at Hillcrest Baptist Church, located at 3324 Park Drive, Nederland, Texas, 77627. There will be a visitation on January 17, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service that will commence at 11:00 AM and then will have a graveside service at Memory Gardens in Nederland, Texas

As we remember this sweet spirited woman, let us carry forward her spirit of love, unity, and joy in our lives, ensuring that her legacy continues to thrive among family and friends.

Sandra was not only my Big Sister, she was so much more. We grew up together. I could always share anything with her & her with me. She had a good heart & Soul. She was always concerned foe others & didn't like drama or conflict. We were both like that in that way. Being a Big Sister she taught me so much. She shared music with me. We could always talk about anyway. She was trustworthy & Loyal. She came to me to talk about issues in her life. She always said she felt comfortable talking to me. She always stated that I always knew just what to say to lift her spirits &encourage her. She would say thats why I always come to you. Because you always know just what to say. For some reason i sometimes, didnt see what she saw. But was still so grateful she felt way. hink I helped her thatBut she alway did.i am grateful she way. I've loved to help people. Encourage & try & lift their people's Spirits. One of the most important thing is how we make people feel. I have always been an empathetic person. Sandra always saw, understood & accepted the way God created me. Because not all people can understand you. But My sister did. Until I See u again, I will always love you from here to eternity. Your Little Sister Dana.
