My condolences! I'm barely an acquaintance! I was a year behind Sharie in school. When I saw she was sick and then departed I could see something I saw many time as I reflected! I lived on the football field behind the Tompkins house. I practiced as a Bullpup after school as a ninth grader. I played for recreation there! I SAW A SISTER WHOSE EXPRESSION OF LOVE, DEDICATED AND SINCERE, TO HER LITTLE BROTHER WAS STRONGER THAN ANY THAT I COULD IMAGINE! She swung that young boy until HE was tired! She was there with him when I played at the field as many times as not (or more)! If reminded of Sharie, perusing the annual or FB, I saw it! I've seen it in a dream (I don't care if some don't believe). I felt something about my character would be remiss if I neglected to comment on this! If there are photo's of this phenomenon of love on this site it will so make my day! She earned her wings many years ago!

I’m reminded of a time Sharie and I went separately to the Youth Evangelism Conference and she waited for me to find her and missed part of one of her favorite songs of For Him I believe because she had saved us a place. That’s so Sharie -thoughtful, gentle spirited and self sacrificing. Will always love her!

It saddens those of us on earth to have lost a bright flame such as Sharie’s presence with Christ at her very core. My thoughts go to her mothering over Rob (who became ill) when the church sent a missIon to Mexico. (Allisen, too, helped him.) However, she has gone on to be in His presence with all the Saints that went before her with her perfect eternal life! I am very thankful for the hope that is in Christ...which she exemplified with every ounce of her beautiful being. I know she brought many souls into the Kingdom. Prayers for God’s peace to envelop her entire family.:heart::pray:

Sharie kept Alicia for us when she was five. I fell in love with her and her kids during that year. Since then she was a treasure. I haven’t seen her lately, but at one point we talked on the phone for two hours. She ministered to me when my sister died trying to save her life. I knew that one day we would visit again and we will. My heart has ached that I can’t pick up the phone and talk to her. She was a treasure like no other. I’m praying for y’all as I know the loss is great! I love y’all!!

It was the very beginning of the school year, the first year when several elementary schools merged into junior high. I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Rhodes for our humanities class. She had everyone sit in alphabetical order that he putting Sharie and I right by each other. We did not know each other at that point since we came from different elementary schools. Mrs. Rhodes kept getting Sharie and I mixed up when calling on us. We would just giggle and look at each other. That was the beginning of our lifelong friendship. We road our bikes all over the place. Came up with an idea about wearing “footless sandals” as we named them. Nothing but a piece of fabric with elastic to fit around a toe and the other around your ankle. We thought we were so cool wearing those and then the tape tattoo’s in the summer! We cut designs out of masking tape and stuck it to our skin so we would not tan there. We were in band together also. Sharie was a twirler and got me interested in twirling also. We were close friends all the way through high school. Sharie met Alan and were married right after we graduated in 1976. I was a bridesmaid in her wedding. She and Alan moved away and I started college also and unfortunately we lost contact over the years but thankfully we reconnected again and last saw each other in 2012. Sharie was always a very positive influence in my life. My regret is that I was not able to share so much more with her later in our lives. For all that we’re blessed to have her in their lives, you know what she was about and where her focus was. I know without a doubt she is now where she always wanted to be and that gives me much peace knowing she is with our Savior and sharing her beautiful smile with Him. You will be missed my friend but I don’t grieve for long as one day I know I will see you again. Always My Friend, Forever In My Heart Kathy Williams Jones

Sharie was genuine, sweet and truly kind. I'll never forget all the times our family saw her at the Chik-fil-A in Mid-county on Fridays...I'd see her and she'd see us and she would immediately smile! Or that fun time we found ourselves in the theater together, watching Star Wars on Christmas Day. I owe the best massage ever to Sharie, when she selflessly brought her chair to the beach for the Lamar Baptist Church girls' weekend, and gave everyone a massage. And I really appreciate her advice that time my oldest son broke out in Poison Ivy...to rub essential oil Thieves over the rash. She was spot on, and that rash immediately began to heal. All you had to do was look at Sharie and see Jesus in her life. Her faith, her empathy for others, her generous heart. She was such a blessing!
