Sheila M. Tate, 77, of Groves, Texas passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018. Shelia was born in May 26, 1941 in Clarks, Louisiana to the late Lloyd Moak and Beryl Banks Moak.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mark Atkinson and his wife, Isabel of Houston, William Atkinson and his wife, Jan of New Braunfels, James Tate of Orange, Tammy Foster of Austin, and Johnny Tate and his wife, Mary of Winnie; 11 grandchildren; her sister, Maureen Duhon of Orange; and her brothers, Keith Moak of Jasper, Damon Moak of Lufkin, and Kevin Moak of Lufkin. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Sharon Jones and Eileen Gunter; and her brother, Brian Moak.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral Services will be at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

I met Sheila when I attended Full Gospel Christian Center-Thriving House in Port Arthur. She was such a gracious, loving sister in Jesus. I enjoyed the times when she shared her stories, her songs, her dreams with me as we visited together. You are so blessed to have her in your lives; I am. I will miss her. I lost contact with her when I evacuated to Arkansas when hurricane Harvey hit, but I had the opportunity to pray for her by way of the church's prayer chain. I am so sorry that she is gone, but I praise the Lord that she is walking, jumping, dancing, running around heaven with Jesus. She is no longer bound by her bed and wheelchair. She is free. I love her dearly.
