Shirley Gay, 83, of Port Neches, passed away, Friday, February 16, 2018. Shirley was born September 17, 1934 in Port Neches to the late, Arthur and Christine Broussard. She was a lifelong resident of Port Neches and retired from the Wilton and Effie Library as a librarian with 20 years of service. She was also a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Donna Gay of Port Neches, and Lisa Scott and her husband, Mark of Port Neches; her sons, Jeff Gay and his wife, Tami of Rockwall, Scott Gay and his wife, Jeanene of Groves, Stuart Gay of Port Neches, and Ted Gay of Port Neches; her niece, Zona Martin and her husband, Eugene of Port Neches. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Katie, Nick, Zach, Brandon, Madison, Parker, Jesse, Cortney, Chris, Candice, Rodney, Joshua, Desirea, Heather, and Maegan; and twenty-two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Gay; her brother, Vernon Broussard; her grandson, Matthew; and her daughters-in-laws, Mary and Becky Gay.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland, from 5:00p.m to 8:00p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, with a rosary to be recited by the Port Neches Knights of Columbus at 6:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00a.m., on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, with Rev. Shane Baxter, celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Cortney and Desirea for the care given to our mother during her time of need.
