Shirley Lee Ponthieu Goebel Shirley Lee Ponthieu Goebel, 78, of Groves passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Gulf Health Care in Port Arthur. She was born on September 24, 1935 in Galveston, Texas to Clinton and Angel Thibodeaux Ponthieu. She was a lifelong area resident and member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and attended Faith Tabernacle Church. Shirley attended Port Arthur College and was employed by Gulf Oil as a timekeeper. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Randy Hammer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Shirley is survived by her husband, James D. Goebel of Groves, TX, daughter, Susan Goebel of Highlands, TX, two sons, Timothy Goebel and wife, Rose of Nederland, TX., and David Goebel and wife, Codia of Groves, TX., sister, Mona Brunson and husband, Harold of Bridge City, TX., brother, Emeric Ponthieu and wife, Marilyn of Bridge City, TX., six grandchildren, Megan Sorah and husband, Marty, Blaine Jordan David Goebel and wife, Tiffany, Victoria Shuler and husband, Scott, Ryan Goebel, Cora Goebel, and Chase Dylan Goebel and two great grandchildren, Albany Sorah and Adele Sorah.
