It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sonja Lynn Romero Fawvor. Sonja passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023 at her home but in the company of her loving family. Sonja was born on March 13, 1967 in Port Arthur, Texas to Edward Romero, Jr., and Linda Sue Wheeler.

Sonja was a beloved wife, mother, Nana, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a passion for taking care of children and being a wonderful caregiver. Sonja was happiest when she was with her family, on a beach or on the water. She had a huge heart and was always there to help others. Her grandbabies were her favorite people who could do no wrong. She loved her family more than anything else and was always ready to brag about them. Sonja’s affectionate smile and giving heart will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish Sonja’s memory include her loving husband of 20 years, Chad Fawvor of Nederland, Texas; her beloved children, Joshua Jones and wife Kayleigh; Joseph Jones and wife Erica; Nicole Babineaux and husband, Jake; beloved bonus children, Gage and Gracie Fawvor who she dearly loved as her own; mother, Linda Romero of Port Neches, Texas; grandchildren, Summer, Conan, Bronson; Kyleigh, Drake, Jaxon, Henley and Hunter; brothers, Edward Romero, III and wife Mendy; Teddy Romero and wife Teresa; Shane Romero and wife Dianna.

Sonja was preceded in death by her father, Edward Romero, Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A Celebration of Life to honor Sonja will be held Friday, September 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
