1957 ∼ 2022

Stephanie Mills Cowart

Stephanie Mills Cowart, 65, of Beaumont, Texas was called home to be with her savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday December 28, 2022. She was born on February 28, 1957 in Beaumont, Texas to Jack Edwards Mills and Barbara Wilson Mills.

Stephanie Cowart, a warrior.

She was always ready to fight for her loved ones. She fought to see us succeed and walk with Jesus in complete surrender and this warrior never backed away from a battle. With faith and authority, she stood, ready to tackle the biggest of enemies. She was clothed with the love of Jesus, which poured out of every step she took. Her passion for seeing people freely live in Jesus pushed her to hold us accountable to the standard of the Word and those words from the Holy Spirit. When we would get lost, she would call us back home. But she is celebrating now, dancing freely and in full strength with Jesus.

Stephanie was a daughter, a sister, a mom, a Tootsie, an Auntie, and a friend. As a mom to Austin and Mallory, she desired them to live their best life for Jesus. Her example as a mom was one of courage, faith, strength and humility. Stephanie always went above and beyond for her kids. The love she had for her son-in-love Cameron was immeasurable and everything she ever wanted for her children she wanted for him also. She was so thankful for him coming into Mallory’s life and of course giving her the gift of being a Tootsie! As Tootsie, she loved those grandbabies. She taught them about Jesus, how to be silly, creative, strong, brave, adventurous, kind and loving. She took on a responsibility to leave a spiritual legacy for those babies. She always found ways to celebrated Teal Bird’s kindness and Callahan June’s spunkiness. Her memory will be kept alive in their hearts by their parents. We will never forget the impact she made in our lives. So let us honor her by choosing to live and walk for Jesus.

There is hope, we will see her again, with that big contagious smile, dancing and worshiping our Jesus.

Those left behind to cherish Stephanie’s memory are her mother, Barbara Wilson; her daughter, Mallory Renee Smith and her husband, Cameron; her son, Austin Lloyd Cowart; her grandchildren, Teal Smith and Callahan Smith; her sister, Deborah Scalf and her husband, Dempsey; her sister, Lisa Mills Pilkington and her husband, Kevin; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Stephanie is preceded in death by her father, Jack Edwards Mills; her loving husband, Garland Cowart; and two nephews.

A gathering of family and friends to honor and celebrate the life of Stephanie Mills Cowart will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

My sweet cousin Stephanie has always been in my life, because she was 8months older than me. We use to spend the night together & we loved to talk to each other. It didn’t matter how much time passed, when we saw each other or talked on the phone- it was like no time had past. I really can’t believe Stephanie has left this earth. She always said she was HIS Favorite! We will be together again forever in eternity! My prayers are with all the family - she will be missed so much! That smile & personality were so infectious - she was larger than life. All my love, Karen
