Stephen Wilson Brown Jr.

March 17, 1929 — June 8, 2014

Stephen W. Brown, 85, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2014 in Lakehills, Texas. Born March 17, 1929 in Goose Creek, TX, to Steve and Etta Brown, Steve lived most of his life in Henderson before moving to the Nederland area.
Steve enjoyed automotive work and was owner of Brown’s Garage and Wrecker Service for many years, where he taught many young boys how to repair automotive engines. In his spare time, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry. He was retired from DuPont, Beaumont Works.
Steve is survived by one daughter, Cindy Vernon Voss (Al), one granddaughter, Brooke Vernon (Shawn), one grandson, Jacob Vernon (April), two great granddaughters, Joli Vernon and Jalyn Vernon, sisters, Doris Williams of Tatum, Texas, Shirley Lyons of Lufkin, Texas and one brother, William Brown of Nederland.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Helen Brown, Sister, Ernestine Wynn, Brothers, Joe Brown, Vernon Brown, and Ernest Brown.
The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to John and Belinda Stewart of Lakehills for their loving care provided to Steve for the past 6 ½ years while he resided in their care.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, June 12th from 5 to 8 pm at Melancon’s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland. A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, June 13th at 10 am at Melancon’s Nederland. Mr. Brown will be laid to rest at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Pt. Neches, Texas.
