Written by Troy Trahan in memory of his dad, Stephen Charles Trahan:
February 25, 1947 ~ December 24, 2021.
Dad was a proud patriot, a father, a granddaddy, a brother, a son, and a devoted husband of over 50 years. He will be hard to forget by those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was one of a kind! He had a great sense of humor and wit. His love of family is unparalleled. He took care of our mom during sickness and health, until death did they part. He loved her until his last breath and is with her still. He showed us what it means to love unconditionally. He may not have been perfect, but was there when it counted. He was an inspiration to our family and leaves behind: a daughter, Tracey Trahan Tatum of Nederland, TX. Her son, Beau Tatum and daughter, Brie. A son, Troy Trahan and wife, Kristi of Bridge City, TX and their sons, Colby and wife, Jordan of Dallas, TX, and Jacob Trahan of College Station, TX. A brother, Allen Trahan and wife, Christine of Petaluma, CA. He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and friends that he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Katherine Trahan of Port Acres, TX and brother, Floyd “Shorty” Trahan of Port Neches, TX. His wife, Linda went home to await his arrival on Jan. 10th, 2018. They are reunited once again! He was eagerly awaiting the birth of his great grandson, Asa Everett due this March to Colby and Jordan. He loved hunting, fishing, creating leatherwork, and sitting outside guarding the neighborhood. Family, friends and neighbors were often seen visiting under the carport where Steve would entertain us with tales from his life: from his service in the Navy during Vietnam, his time insulating, his childhood, or past memories from days gone by. Our lives will go on, but not be the same. Going to miss my hunting buddy, partner in crime, my friend, my Dad…. Love you Pop! Until we meet again.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening, December 28, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning, December 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Enterment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. Mr. Jeff Trahan will officiate the services.
