Sybil Roy Sykes, 81, of Port Neches, Texas passed away July 18, 2011 at Harbor Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. She was born January 10, 1930 in Garrison, Texas to the late Edsel and Hattie Bell Elliotte Chandler.A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, Rev. Marv Howland officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.Sybil is survived by her daughter, Gale Osborne and husband Steve of Port Neches son, Rickie Roy and wife Debbi of Driftwood sister, Shirley Griggs of Center 6 grandchildren, Shaa Sykes, Ryan Osborne, Rachel Choate, Brandon Roy, Brent Roy, and Kayla Roy 5 greatgrandchildren Heather Sykes, Reece Choate, Ross Choate, Ryleigh Osborne, and Keigan Osborne also numerous nieces and nephews and a host of special friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester H. Sykes 3 brothers 1 sister and grandson, Christopher Alan Roy.

Gale,I am sorry to hear about your mothers passing. You know God has a plan... and brings people together a reason.... I am glad that God brought us together even though it was on terms that we would have wanted. Our mothers are together now....I am sure talking about us and how we were there for them. Gail, Ricky, and families: so sorry of your loss, she will be missed and thought of in memories. I have such fun memories of her laughing and having a good time at our families gatherings in years gone by. When Grandpa and Grandma Elliott lived in Arlam, Garrison, and we lived at the Apt. in Garrison...her visit with Aunt Verline were always so much fun...I was a young kid during those days but, I remember all of the laughing they all did...with my daddy, uncle Amos and uncle Grady...those were fun years. Sybil was a helpmate to so many and loved by all. Her Crown has many jewels.There is a season for everything a time to live and a time to die. She had her time and lived life to the fullest, now it is time for rest and peace in His eternal kingdom.
