Sylvia A. Stewart, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted healthcare professional, passed away on May 1, 2026, in Nederland, Texas. Born on November 3, 1947, in Port Arthur, Texas, Sylvia lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a zest for living that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Sylvia’s career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse with Texas Home Health spanned over three decades. Her compassionate care and unwavering commitment to the well-being of her patients were hallmarks of her professional life. She took great pride in her work and found deep fulfillment in serving others during their times of need.

A woman of many interests, Sylvia embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved to travel and explore new places, always eager for new experiences and adventures. Her hobbies brought her joy and included shopping, gardening, and being an avid baseball fan. Sylvia also enjoyed the thrill of gambling, delighting in the excitement it brought her. Among her cherished memories was the special bond she shared with her loyal dog, a faithful companion who filled her days with love and happiness.

Above all, Sylvia’s proudest accomplishment was her family. She was deeply devoted to her loved ones, a cornerstone of strength and affection. She is survived by her sons, “Billy” Schroeder and his wife Nicole of Beaumont, and Eddie Wilson of Bridge City; her daughter, Mandy Kibodeaux of Nederland; and her treasured grandchildren Aron Johnson and her husband, Josh of Vidor, Sammy Schroeder and his wife Jessica of Delmar, Maryland, Chris Moyers of American Fork, Utah, Chloe Schroeder of Beaumont, and Blakely Wilson of Bridge City. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren Mason Johnson, Noah Johnson, Maddox Johnson, Owen Schroeder, and Ellie Mae Schroeder. Sylvia is also survived by her brothers Joe Hughes and his wife Theresa of California, Hank Hughes and his wife Mary Jane of Mauriceville, and her sister Gloria Griffin of Kountze.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Travis Stewart; her parents, Albin and Mary Louise Schroeder; her sister, Bobbie Travis; her brother, Mike Schroeder; and her granddaughter, Scarlett Wilson. Their memories remain treasured in the hearts of those who loved her.

Visitation will be held on May 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627. A graveside service will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life of Sylvia A. Stewart, a woman whose warmth, spirit, and devotion left an indelible mark on all fortunate enough to know her.

Sylvia’s journey through life was a testament to love, care, and the simple joys that make memories eternal.
