Therese Rowland

1928 ∼ 2018

Therese LeBlanc Rowland, 89, of Nederland, passed away July 28, 2018 two days shy of her 90th birthday. She was preceded in death by Donald, her husband of 60 years. She was a proud graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1947. Therese “retired” several times after many years at Greenlawn Memorial Park. She was a Charter member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland having attended Mass as a child, above Cooks Grocery store before the church was even built. Over the course of her life, Therese participated in various ministries including the St. Charles Altar Society and Women’s Guild.

Therese had three children, and if you ever met her, you know she was also an extremely proud Grammie to eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. She and PawPaw took grandkids on memorable excursions in their RV. Grammie ran a tight ship; for example, she insisted grandkids perform a program before anyone could open Christmas presents at her house.

Therese is survived by son Charles Rowland and wife Gay of Nederland, TX, and their children Julia Rowland and Grant Rowland; daughter Donna Concienne and husband Mark of Tulsa, OK, their children Dana Williams and husband Preston, Kayla Klein and husband Kory, Marcus Concienne and wife Laura, and Monica Concienne, and their grandchildren Paige, Peyton, Brianna, and Andrew Williams and Kamryn, Kade, and Kyle Ann Klein, and Joseph Amos Concienne; daughter Rhonda Aguillard and husband Kent of Nederland, TX, their children Garrett Aguillard and wife Amanda, Kimberly Aguillard, Allison Waite and husband Josh, Aaron Aguillard and wife Lauren, Wade Aguillard and wife Lindsey, and their grandchildren Katelyn, Claire, and Grayson Aguillard, Adeline Therese Aguillard, and Henry and Caroline Waite.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, with praying of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday, August, 3, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Charles Church in Nederland, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

I lived next door to Theresa and Donald when they were raising their three young children and she let me babysit sometimes. She was one of the finest women Nederland had to set an example to any girl from 9 until my teens when they moved from our old neighborhood. She was always kind to me and I visited her like a peer. I was lucky to stay in contact with her for years at school functions, through Rhonda and so blessed to teach 2 of her grandchildren. She was a beautiful light to all who knew her. Love to all of you. Profound sympathy to all of you. Susan Morgan Streetman

Working with Therese at Greenlawn was one of the great joys of my life. She did her job precisely and to perfection. I loved her, learned so much from her and am so grateful for the ten years that I worked alongside her. Her family was everything to her. When I moved away she would write wonderful letters with the happenings of all of you. She loved you all so much. Prayers and love, Kim Olivier Chow

I have very fond memories of your parents and all the fun times that we had. They were very giving and kind to James and I during his recent illness. Always willing to help others! I will miss her messages from her iPad checking on us. My prayers are with all of you with the loss of your sweet mother and grandmother. May God comfort you and give you peace. My love, Anna
