Thomas Alvin Adams

1966 ∼ 2013

Thomas Alvin Adams was born in Port Arthur, Texas on April 22, 1966 to Alvin Adams Jr. and Grace Marie Broussard. He was a 1984 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and left for the U.S. Navy three days after graduation. Tom was a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman for 10 years and served at Bethesda and Pensacola Naval Hospitals. He was also a graduate of the U.S. Army Respiratory Therapy Technician School. He was proudest of his service as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman; he made two Mediterranean cruises with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard USS Guam and USS Austin. After leaving the Navy, he worked for St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur and was employed as a Computer Technician at Galena Park ISD until the onset of his illness. He was also a volunteer at the Houston Humane Society. Tom died at home in Houston on March 15, 2013 with his beloved Boxer Nala at his side. He is survived by his parents, Alvin and Grace Adams of Groves, two sisters, Elizabeth Hunt of Kirbyville and Alison Boudreaux of Fannett, three nieces, Alyssa Barton of Kirbyville and Emma and Natalie Boudreaux of Fannett, and many cousins, uncles, aunts, and human and canine friends. Instead of flowers, Tom requested that his friends make a donation to the Houston Humane Society (houstonhumane.org) or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org). Visitation will be at 5:00 PM with a memorial service at 6:00 PM on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A graveside service with full military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive.

Tom, There are many people in this world, but only a few of us have stepped up and fulfilled our duty to our country. I learned that code while on active duty and try to live by it in civilian life. People need a code to live by, to base their decisions. Our service to our country and the American people cannot be forgotten and I am honored to have served with you. We were in different branches, but we are still brothers and we will always be brothers.
