Thomas Barton passed away Friday, April 22, 2011, at his residence at Autumn Leaves Retirement Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Tom was born on August 24, 1927, in Nuttallburg, West Virginia the son of a coal miner Owen Barton and wife Wilhelmina. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Marine Corp. After the war, he married Esta Mae Brown, also of West Virginia, and they decided to move to Southeast Texas in the early 5039s, where he hoped to get a job in a refinery. Tom was hired by Pure Oil Refining in Nederland, Texas, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. When Tom and Esta moved to Nederland, they bought property and built their home at 908 Avenue E, where he resided until he moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 2005 to be closer to his son and his family. Tom was a master carpenter and he built their house to last. He loved to mow his yard and keep everything quottrimmedquot and in order. Tom was a member of Nederland Christian Church and later a charter member of Nederland Memorial Christian Church. He enjoyed church and the fellowship that came with it.Tom is preceded in death by his parents Owen and Wilhelmina Barton, brothers Laurence and Richard, and sister Mavis. He is survived by his sons Roger W. Barton and his wife Donna of Argyle, Texas, and David G. Barton of Nederland, Texas, grandson Bryan C. Barton of Grapevine, Texas granddaughters Terra Louvier and Brenna Marshall both of Nederland, Texas, two brothers Owen and Billy Barton of West Virginia and many nieces, nephews and greatgrandkids.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County. A gathering of family and friends will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Melancon39s Funeral Home.The Barton Family would like to thank the staff at Autumn Leaves for helping Mr. B. these past few years.
