Thomas Rueben Cooper, 9l, of Groves, Texas passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Cypress Glen Nursing Home in Port Arthur. Rueben was born February 13, 1921 in Bullard, Texas to Richard Payne Cooper and Ida Morrow Cooper. He was a resident of Groves for 66 years and retired from the instrument department of Texaco as a supervisor after 35 years of service. He was a member of Groves Masonic Lodge #1315 and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Frances Cooper, one brother, and two sisters. Survivors include his two daughters, Wanda Neel and husband Nolan of Groves, Linda Prophit and husband, Robert of Deer Park; one sister, Bobbie Joyce Cain of Whitehouse; four grandchildren, Jeffery Neel, Scott Prophit, Kelli Boland, Todd Prophit; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Joe Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
