Thurman Conrad "Bud" Reynolds

Thurman Conrad Reynolds, 93, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at his residence. Bud, as he was known to his many friends, was born on September 10, 1921 in Port Neches to the late Ernest Oscar Reynolds and Era Mae Block.

He was a graduate of the high school class of 1939. While working at Linn Motor Co. he met Elaine Rogers and knew immediately they were meant to be together. They were married on October 16, 1942, eight months after he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. Bud served in the China, Burma, and India area of WWII with the Flying Tigers of the 14th Air Force. After returning from the war, he enrolled in Lamar College and received a business degree in 1948. Bud then began a 35 year career with Neches Butane where he specialized in water treatment. He loved the Lord, the church, and was a deacon and active member of First Baptist Port Neches until his passing, still giving Sunday morning devotionals every week.

Bud is survived by his son, Richard “Ricky” Reynolds and wife, Becky of Sugarland, TX; grandchildren, Dr. Ryan Reynolds of Euless, TX and Keri Reynolds of Houston, TX; sister, Bennie Rienstra of Ft. Worth, TX; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Reynolds of Nederland. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 63 years, Elaine; and son, James Conrad Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Port Neches on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church Port Neches.

What is the definition of a true American ? The life and times of "Bud" Reynolds exemplifies that in every way. A father, loving husband, and one who served his country and family and friends in every way. Most of all a Christian who shared his strong faith and values with everyone he touched. You touched me Mr. Bud and for this I will always remember you. Your warm smile , great conversation, your philosophy on life's challenges, and the opportunity to be a part of your wonderful family.
