Thomas "Tommy" James Gaspard

     Thomas "Tommy" James Gaspard, 86 of Nederland, Texas passed away in Port Arthur, Texas on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. He was born on March 6, 1938 in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late, Mason Gaspard and Flossie Barrilleaux Gaspard.

     Tommy's life was marked by his deep love for his family and a passion for sports, particularly football and baseball. A devoted fan of the Thomas Jefferson Yellow Jackets and the Dallas Cowboys, he found joy in watching games and cheering for his favorite teams. His love for sports extended beyond being just a spectator; he cherished moments spent with his children and grandchildren at their sporting events, ensuring he never missed a game. Additionally, Tommy had a love for fishing and often took his grandchildren on peaceful fishing outings.

In addition to his successful career as owner of Champion Instrument Supply for over 25 years, Tommy served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, demonstrating his commitment and love of his country.

Tommy leaves behind a legacy of love and family bond. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Deanna Letulle Gaspard of Nederland; his children, Norman Gaspard and wife, Regina of Bridge City, Tammy Hebert and husband, Bert of Nederland, Kirt Gaspard and wife, Bonnie of Nederland, Karen Swearingen and husband, Dennis of Fannett, and Mitch Gaspard and wife, Kim of Ruston, Louisiana; his brothers, Charles Gaspard of Houston, Texas, and Kim Gaspard and wife, Denise of Nederland. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who were a source of immense joy and pride for him.

     Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Mason Gaspard and Flossie Barrilleaux Gaspard; his loving step-mother, Lil Gaspard who raised his from the age of 12 years old due to his mother's passing when he was the age of 3 years old.

A Rosary will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. followed by gathering of Tommy's family and friends at 4:30 p.m. and the Memorial Service at 5:30 p.m. at Melancon~Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.

Tommy Gaspard's life will be remembered for his dedication to family, love for sports, and profound impact on those around him. May he rest in peace as his memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Tommy always had a smile and a warm hug everytime we saw him. He never failed to ask about our children and always made us feel special. His love for his children and grandchildren was evident in every conversation we had. He loved sports and was so proud of the accomplishments of each one of his children and grandchildren.
