Tommy Ross McGuire

1944 ∼ 2018

Tommy Ross McGuire 73 of Hemphill, TX, formerly of Groves, TX left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on February 16th, 2018. Tommy was born on November 20th 1944 in Seminole TX to the late Joseph T (Jake) McGuire and Bessie Anderson McGuire. He grew up in Seminole where he met his wife Royce Jones McGuire of 55 years. They married on March 19, 1963 and moved to south Texas in 1973 where he began selling equipment to local refineries and did so until he retired in 2007. In his early years Tommy enjoyed golfing and later became an avid fisherman into retirement when they moved to Hemphill TX on Toledo Bend Lake where he loved sitting on his front porch listening to his music, sitting by a fire and working in his shop. Tommy had the gift of talking, which some would call the “gift of gab” always making someone feel welcome even if it wasn’t a good time he made time for everyone allowing him to be a loved father figure and friend to so many people during his life. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who was very generous with his time and money helping others in need standing up for those who couldn’t stand up for themselves. Tommy loved to pick on people. This was so much a part of him that his family and friends knew this was one of the ways he showed his love. Tommy is survived by his loving wife Royce McGuire, son Jon McGuire and husband Keith Bailey, daughter Susan McGuire and Mike Owens, daughter Melynda and husband Don Brown, sister Patsy and husband Harold Latta, brother Jesse and wife DAnn McGuire, granddaughter Lindsey Thomas, granddaughter Ashli Brown Stutes, grandson Chase Bailey and great grandson Zander Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy McCallum.

Very sorry hear this news. Tommy was a good friend when I lived in Pt Neches for many years. We had a regular weekend golf game at the old Pt Arthur CC for many, many years. Our foursome was John Giles, Joe Frazier, Tommy, and I. Tommy and I also paired together in many of the two man team golf tournaments in the Golden Triangle during the late 1970's and 1980's and we were able to win a few together. Was looking forward to finding Tommy and Royce someday when I could get to Hemphill from my current home in Tennessee. Tommy was a good friend and helpful. I recall when he helped me move from one house to another, over a long weekend plus loaned his truck.

Tommy is already missed when we drive by your front porch and he's not there to wave at us. Such a good person who was always fun to be around. You will be missed. We will continue to wave and visit with Royce:heart:

McGuire family, I am so saddened to hear the news, Tommy, Dad and I shared many a fishing trip and hunts along the coast and definitely at the East Texas lakes. I have many vivid memories and wonderful thoughts of fishing with Tommy what an awesome competitor and a gifted athlete. He will be missed greatly and my prayers go out to the family, May God be with you Buddy! Brad Deslatte

McGuire family, so sorry to hear of the passing of Tommy. Played many a round of golf with him in years past, enjoyed each one. He was a fantastic and caring person to all. May the love and grace of God ease your pain and sorrow.
