Trice Edgar Taylor Jr

December 23, 1955 — August 16, 2013

Trice Edgar Taylor, Jr., son of Trice Edgar Taylor, Sr. and Peggy Jo (Rauwerda) Taylor, was born on December 23, 1955 in Port Arthur, TX and entered into his rest on August 16, 2013 at his home in Comanche, TX, surrounded by family and friends.
In his early life he was united in marriage with Janet. This union was blessed with one daughter, Natalie Hope, who survives him. Janet preceded Ty in death. Ty often spoke of how he carried the scars of several years of drug and alcohol addiction. In the mid 1990’s his liver was failing from that abuse and he was the recipient of a donor liver. By this time, Ty had turned his life around and not only was he a member of the Church of Christ, but was often preaching the gospel and was called to several churches in several states to preach a sermon he entitled “Keep Off the Grass”. He diligently worked to help people stay off of drugs and alcohol and overcome their addictions. At the time of his death he was a member of the DeLeon Church of Christ.
While he was waiting for a liver, he corresponded with a beautiful Christian woman that he had been told about in the Philippines. That relationship developed and on November 15, 1997, in Azel, TX, Ty was united in marriage with Cherry Matusalem Batalla, Brother Zack Everett officiated the ceremony. Their union was blessed with three children, Joanna Faith, Trice Edgar, III and Charity Rose Lesa Taylor, all surviving. He is also survived by grandchildren Kyleigh, Taylor and Lily.
During the past sixteen years Ty has worked hard to provide for his family. He worked for L3 Communications Simulation and Training in Arlington, TX as long as his health permitted. Even on days that Ty was in pain or even during these last few weeks, Ty was always ready to go fishing. He loved to cut up with people and could make any room he was in feel good with laughter. He loved spending time with his wife and children on their farm in Comanche. Ty enjoyed showing friends the pecan and peach trees that he felt very humbled with all that God had blessed him with.
Ty is also survived by his mother Peggy Taylor, of Nederland, TX; a step daughter, Crystal Harris, of Vidor, TX and a step son, Casey Beasley of Port Arthur, TX, his sister, Shelly Glynn, father-in-law, Cosme Batalla, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many brothers and sisters in Christ who he loved very dearly.
