Vera Eloise Cartlidge

Vera Eloise Cartlidge, 87, of Groves, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Silsbee Oaks Health Care in Silsbee, Texas. Vera was born May 22, 1926 in Silsbee, Texas to James Wiley "Jim" Cunningham and Mae Bell Gore Cunningham. She was raised north of Silsbee near "Caney Head". Vera married Chester Ray Cartlidge on December 22, 1945 and lived in Groves, Texas for 60 years. She enjoyed gardening and fishing with her husband on Sabine Lake. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Kenneth Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 Noon until time of service on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the funeral home. Vera was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Mae Denmon, Doris Sirmons, brothers, James Vernon Cunningham, Robert Thomas "R.T." Cunningham, and Floyd Denmon. Surviving relatives include her sister, Jimmie Mae Collins and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
