Verlea Hinson, age 95, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2017. She was born on June 15, 1922 to Jim and Lolettie Bailey in Rosepine, Louisiana. Verlea made a wonderful home for her family in Groves where her friends were always welcome. Until Parkinsons disease took its toll she cooked a huge lunch before Sunday School every week for her family so that they could all gather at her house after church. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, walking, working in her yard and entertaining friends. She was a lady of many talents! Verlea was an active member of many clubs and organizations and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Groves. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil Hinson and eight brothers and sisters. Verlea is survived by her daughter, Weida Philpott and husband Eddie, son, Lionel Hinson, four grandchildren, Lionel "Deuce" Hinson and wife Belinda, Trey Hinson, Echo Sullivan and husband Eric, Aspen Hebert and husband Heath, eleven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who adored her. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th Street, Groves followed by a celebration of Verleas life at 12 noon with Dr. Joe Worley and Reverend Charles Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Special thanks to Sandra Lutz, Tasha Broom with Hospice Plus, Peggy Lee and each care provider at Forever Young who took such good care of "Ms. V." The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 4000 Grant, Groves, TX 77619.

Verlea loved people & our Lord. Even when she couldn't attend services, she kept up with everything & her door was always open to visitors where she would ask about all you had in common. She would never mention her health unless you did & then she was fine! I've eaten many things cooked with her recipes. She was a remarkable woman. So sorry I won't be able to attend her Celebration of her Life but you know our hearts are with the family in your loss. Frankie & Lonnie

Oh, how my heart hurts with you at this time. What a precious, talented soul this world has lost, even as heaven rejoices. I pray that love, warm memories and comfort that only Jesus can give abounds just now. Much love, Ken & Linda
