Verlyn D. Champagne, 74, of Port Neches, Texas died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Verlyn was born March 7, 1938 in Duson, Louisiana to Dudley and Isabelle Simon. She was a lifelong resident of Port Neches, Texas and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Bennie Patillo officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited Monday, September 24, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. She was preceded in death by her husband, John N. Champagne. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Theresa Wallace and husband John of Vidor, Texas; sons, Lonnie J. Champagne and wife Renee' of Nederland, Texas; Richard "Ricky" Champagne and wife Janet of Port Neches, Texas; Jimmy L. Champagne and wife Christy of Port Neches, Texas; sister, Mildred Spears and husband Delbert LeJune of Port Neches, Texas; grandchildren, Crystalynne, Jennifer, Jake, Logan, Courtney, Caitlyn, Melanie, Eddie, Brad, John and Sherrie; great grandchildren, Dylan, Addisyn, Andrew, Lilliana, Ty, Kylie and Ashli. The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice and Advantage Healthcare and a special thank you to Susan Hilton for taking such wonderful care of our Mom, and becoming such a big part of our family.

To Mrs.champagnes family... I am very deeply sorry to hear about your loss. I rented from Mrs.champagne for many years and became very close to her until I had to move away. She was a wonderful person and had the biggest heart of gold. She will be deeply missed. I loved her like a mother.
