Verna Sue Beckett Verna Sue Beckett, 74, of Groves passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was born in 1941 in Port Arthur, Texas to Leroy Forrest Dodson and Verna Sue Sheppard Dodson. Verna was a graduate of Port Neches Groves High School and had lived in League City, Texas for many years with her husband, Christopher John Beckett. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Friendship Baptist Church in Groves with Reverend Travis Cox officiating. Verna is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Denoma of Seattle, WA, sister-in-law, Nancy Dodson of Groves, TX and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Christopher John Beckett.
