Boogie was/is my Grandfather. And yes, he was/is as grand as it gets. He was one of my very first friends and I will always cherish the time that I was able to spend with him. He and Granny have always been nothing but supportive and encouraging to my brother and myself. They introduced us to music, art, nature, and showed us how to be compassionate. He was/is one of the most genuine people i've ever met. He was highly creative and would come up with neat ideas, make beautiful things as well as nifty things. He soulfully and beautifully played guitar. He even sang. I will miss hearing his voice. Grandpa had so many friends it was unbelievable, and not just casual buddies but people who really cared deeply for him. He had old friends and constantly made new ones. From his neighbors to even his renters; they were like family to him. He had so much love to spread and I am so grateful that I was able to know him. I will miss seeing the look on his face when I show him something i've drawn, or made. He was my biggest fan. My brother and I are his only Grandkids, and I know that we will always have wonderful memories with him to look back on from trying to learn how to swing a golf club to taking my brother to the gun range to learn to shoot....i remember being very young and trying to keep time playing drums with him and trying to sing " jambalaya"...i'm sure i was horrible but we had the best time... i'll always have his smile in my memories and his silly sense of humor <3

To know Vernon (Boogie) was one of the greatest highlights of my life. Met him 57 years ago and have been friends ever since. He inducted me into the "Cajun society" when he taught me what Mon Ami (My friend) was and hence named me "Tatumeaux." I cherish that friendship more than anything and will have a void where once stood Ma tres chere ami (My very dear friend). To Nell, Shane and Lisa, I give you love and continued prayers for healing.

Everyone should have a friend like Boogie. From our first meeting when I was about 9 yrs. old he took me under his wing and has been mentoring me ever since. We shared a lot of memories over the years, some good and some bad, but he was always there for me. Many times when I was down he lifted me up with words of encouragement. Always bragging about my accomplishments when it was he who deserved the credit. I will sorely miss my great friend. Goodbye my buddy. Brenda and I love you and Nell. Jimmy

Nell, my heart is with you during this oh so hard time. My memories of Boogie are of him and his guitar. He loved to play, and was so good at it. Now he can join the angel choir and add his talent to their music.I am so grateful that Mike and I had the chance to see him on Saturday, and tell him that we love him.It breaks my heart to look at the picture of him.-but that's Boogie--happy and holding his guitar. He will always be in my memory, Nell, and you and your family are in my prayers.

My heartfelt prayers for all of you this last week have been bitter-sweet, with the heavy cloud of the circumstances, it was also an opportunity to share old memories, friendships and realize the purpose God has in putting people in our lives. I give thanks for Him allowing me to know "Mr. T" and the rest of your loving family.
