Where to begin.....? That is often the case when one sits down to reflect on the memory of someone that they hold in such high regard. From his low-key, but clever sense of humor to his love of golf to the way you always seemed to know where you stood with him, Pat Waite was a man that I knew and respected for many, many years. As a youngster, some of my fondest memories were the years we got to spend New Year's Eve with him, Carlie, Eddie & Alton. Watching from the sidelines, he showed a side of himself that made me realize that being a "grown up" didn't automatically have to mean that everything always had to be serious and stoic. His family and ours always had so much fun together; it was always a treat as a kid when my parents announced we were going to visit the Waites. The way that he and Mrs. Waite interacted with each other showed me that no matter how many years a couple were together, they could still playfully enjoy each other's company with the undertone of true love always present. In my eyes, he was neither self-serving nor gloating; but rather someone who you felt like would help a complete stranger even if he had almost nothing to give himself. Sadly, this world is now without a man of his caliber as he has left our physical presence. His spirit though, remains for all within his circle to remember and rejoice in. We can all benefit from knowing a man with the principles he had. I am honored that I knew him. I also smile thinking about how he is reunited with Carlie once again; and I’m sure that they are now lovingly bantering back and forth in Heaven. Our thoughts and prayers our with the entire family. --- Lee, Kathryn & Jackson Wicker
