Vincent “Boy” Landry, 85, of Groves, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at his residence in Groves with his loving family at his side.
Vincent was born on October 5, 1936, in Cade, Louisiana to Whitney and Alena Landry. He was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation in 1993 after 35 years of service. Vincent was a member of the Immaculate Conception /St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus where he was the Knight of the Year for 1975-1976; the K.C. Outstanding Service Council #3491 for 1981-1982 and received the Bill Comeaux Lifetime Commitment Award for 2013-2014. Vincent also received the Highway Beautification Award for September 1988. Vincent loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile Landry of Groves; daughters, Patricia Jara and her husband Stephen Jara, Sr., Margie Marino and her husband Michael and Bonnie Brock; seven grandchildren, Stephenie Jessica Alwine, Bobbi Meyer, Stephen Jesse Jara, Jr., Karen Allison and her husband Andrew, Kristi Gupta and her husband Maneesh, Brent Brock and his wife Amanda, Bruce Brock and his wife Amanda, ten great grandchildren, Mala Gupta, Chloe Allison, Caleb Alwine, Maddi Graffagnino, Sophie Allison, Macie Allison, Sam Brock, Aarav Gupta, Evelyn Brock, Jaanvi Gupta; siblings, Anne Caillier, Leona Poirier, Antonia Poirier, Leroy Landry and his wife Betty, Willis Landry and his wife Linda.
Vincent was preceded in death by parents Whitney and Alena Landry; siblings, Rudolph Landry, Harold Landry and Juanita Escagne.
A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2022, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. An additional visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Melancon Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception/St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Stephenie Jessica Alwine, Stephen Jesse Jara, Jr., Bobbi Meyer, Karen Allison, Brent Brock, Kristi Gupta and Bruce Brock. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Allison and Maneesh Gupta.
