Viola Sue Colburn, 86, of Nederland, Texas passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Cascades of Port Arthur. Sue was born on October 21, 1936 in Webb, Texas to Charles and Irene Liddell. She married her husband, Joe on August 1, 1964 and was a lifelong resident of Nederland, Texas.

Sue was a member of First Methodist Church of Nederland. She was passionate about teaching and devoted to her church. Sue was a member of the church choir and taught Sunday school. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and teacher.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Mitchell Liddell and Irene Lilly (Norris) Liddell; daughter, Virginia Ann Colburn and sister, Thelma Ruth Crabb.

Those left to cherish Sue’s memory are her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Joe Colburn of Nederland, Texas; children, Joe Colburn, Jr. and his wife, Pam; Samuel Colburn and his wife, Robin; Janice Tantillo and her husband, Randy; as well as several grandchildren. Sue also leaves behind thousands of students that she taught in her thirty-six years of service at Nederland School District.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a Memorial Service to begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023, at First Methodist Church of Nederland; 1300 Nederland Ave., Nederland, Texas 77627.
