Virga Francis quotRedquot Lusignan, 93, of Port Arthur, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Christus Hospital St. Mary in Port Arthur.Red was born November 10, 1917 in Port Arthur to the late Philip and Aliza Broussard Lusignan, and lived all of his life here in Port Arthur. He retired from Hamptons Furniture Store in Port Arthur with 41 years of service, as sales manager and decorator. Red was a life member and the first president of the Port Arthur Noon Sertoma Club and attended meetings until just last week. He was an avid Lamar University Cardinal basketball fan striving never to miss a game. Red served his country faithfully during WWII, in the U.S. Army, then the U.S. Air Corp, finally serving in the U.S. Air Force, and retiring with the rank of Major.Red was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Adam and April Begnaud. He is survived by the love of his life who he married October 13, 1946, Kathryn Lusignan of Port Arthur his three daughters, Laura Begnaud and her husband Larry of Port Neches, Janie Richard and her husband Kirby of Beaumont, and Tina Ramirez and her husband Fernando of Crosby his son, Philip Lusignan and his wife Cindy of Nederland also surviving are his fifteen grandchildren, Aaron Begnaud and wife Megan, Austin Begnaud and wife Kristin, Christopher Richard, Evan Richard, Taylor Ramirez, Chance Ramirez, Keaton Ramirez, Cade Ramirez, James Rainey and wife Tiffany, Jason Rainey, Katie McKeehan, Mary Cornwall, Janie Lusignan, Christina Rainey, Meagan Ramirez and eight great grandchildren.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Msgr. Bennie Patillo officiating, with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the ion of Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 8 PM Monday with a Vigil service to be held at 5:30 PM at the funeral home.Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude39s Children39s Hospital or to Lamar Port Arthur.

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Lusigans death. He and my dad, Lionel Louviere, were friends in their school days and after, until my dads death in 1964. I will keep you all in my prayers.
