Virginia Lynn Wilcox Penry, 75, of Port Arthur, Texas passed March 6, 2012. She was born November 15, 1936 in Port Arthur, Texas to Jared and Frances Wilcox. She was a resident of the NederlandPort Arthur area all of her life. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1954 and began working at Del Mar Pharmacy, Port Arthur News Credit Union, DuPont Credit Union and Port Arthur Medical Clinic, retiring as office manager in 1992 after 15 years.She married George Scottie Smith in 1954. Three children were born to this union. In 1976 she married Alvin Ray Penry and enjoyed 35 years of happiness traveling, antiquing, and fellowshipping with good friends and family. She and Ray also enjoyed doing geneology research. She was the ninth great granddaughter of Pocahontas.Survivors include her husband, Alvin Ray Penry three children, Dawn Smith Reeves Chester of Deer Park, Jared Smith Diane of Nederland, and Dayna Smith Hyatt of Groves two stepdaughters, Lezlie Penry Benally Chris of Port Neches and Barbara Penry Donahey Kevin of Port Neches, ten grandchildren, Tammi Cannon Mike, Tanya Hensley George, Ty Smith Alicia, Colt Smith Kara, Katie Hyatt, Lela Hyatt, Lisa Donahey, Khris Donahey Ashlee, Mallory Suire, and Carly Suire and six greatgrandchildren, Emily and Alison Cannon, Koby and Cooper Smith, Riley Dawn Hensley, and Keegan Donahey.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at United Methodist Temple, 4101 Hwy 73 in Port Arthur, Dr. Rev. Jesse Brannen officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, March 9, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
