Virginia Marie Parent, 81, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Oak Grove Nursing in Groves, Texas with her loving family at her side. 

Virginia was born on September 8, 1942, in Gonzales, Texas to Norma Helen Voight Wishert and William Franklin Wishert.  She was a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who loved to cook and feed her family who she took care of and loved dearly. Virginia also was known to be a good cook and enjoyed baking; often times making wedding cakes for friends and family and just anyone who asked.  She loved bringing joy to other people and she was loved for that. 

Survivors include her children, Billy Parent of Nederland, Brian Parent and his wife, Monica of Beaumont; grandchildren, Brianna Parent and Cheyanne Parent both of Beaumont; her brothers, Larry Wishert of Liberty, Texas and Jeff Wishert of Gonzales; brother-in-law, Sim Richter of Seguin, Texas.  

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, William and Norma Wishert; her sister, Linda Wishert Richter and the love of her life, her husband of forty-nine years, Lionel Parent who passed away on February 28, 2022. 

A gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2024, at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.  Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas. 

Serving as Pallbearers will be David Parent, Chris Richter, Jeffrey Sedtal, Dennis Sedtal, Troy Rodgers and Jon Chorpenning.  Serving as an Honorary Pallbearer will be Craig Robinson.

The family would like to thank Casey, Annette, Ortencia, Jami, Rosabelle and Trish for their loving care and kindness through this difficult time caring for our mother, Virginia Marie Parent.  We cannot thank you enough for all your love and support for mom in her final days.  God Bless all of you.
