Vivian Ruth Halliburton Emmert

Vivian Ruth Halliburton Emmert, 94, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Rose Place in Port Arthur, Texas. Vivian was born May 28, 1928 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Ethel Mary and Theodore Oxford Halliburton.
Vivian graduated in 1947 from Thomas Jefferson High School and later from Port Arthur College. She was a member of the Red Hussar Drum and Bugle Corp., Beta Sigma Phi, P.E.O., Chapter CP, Port Arthur, Texas and Chapter CC, Beaumont, Texas. She retired from Texaco after ten years of service as a Stenographer. Vivian also worked at the Port Arthur Library, Groves Library and Nederland Library and at the Mission’s Attic.
Vivian was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Beaumont and First United Methodist Church in Nederland.
Vivian was actively involved in her community. She was a member of the Best Years Center in Beaumont where she started the newsletter, kept attendance records and opened their first gift shop. She participated in their Mardi Gras each year and was once crowned queen of the year. Vivian volunteered her time in Port Arthur School offices, the Department of Human Resources, Attorney General’s Office and The United Board of Missions.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Mary (Hendrix) Halliburton and Theodore Oxford Halliburton; spouse, George William Emmert, Jr.; brother, Vernon Halliburton; and grandson, Baby George Dean Barber.
Those left to cherish Vivian’s memory are her son, Danny Emmert and his wife, Kay of Nederland, Texas; daughter, Nancy Lyn Rose and her husband, Robert of Lumberton, Texas; grandchildren, Karen Gorham and her husband, Justin; Michael Emmert and his wife, Amber; Joann Barber, Russell Emmert and his wife, Beth; Mason Emmert; great grandchildren, Taylor, Crystal, Bailey, Paisley, Kendall, Jasmine, Seth, Scott, Joey, Marissa, Russy and Laithen; great-great grandchild, Marci.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Vivian’s Life to begin at 10:00 a.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
