W. C. Bobbitt, Jr.

W. C. Bobbitt, Jr., 74, of Port Acres, Texas passed away February 7, 2019. He was born in Center, Texas on March 10, 1944 to the late William Chester Bobbitt and Ida Belle Thomas Bobbitt. He was an operator for Total Refinery for 39 ½ years before retiring. W. C. was a member of the Les Du Acadiens. He loved hunting, fishing, and the lake life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Shirley Vincent Bobbitt of Port Acres; his son, William Chester Bobbitt, III of Port Acres; his daughter, Sabrina Ball and her husband, Gary M. of Port Acres; his sister, Carole Choate and her husband, Michael; his brothers, Royce Bobbitt and Roger Bobbitt and his wife, Sharlene; his grandchildren, Shay Bobbitt, Tabitha Helmer and her husband, Don, Gary M. Ball, Jr., Zane M. Ball, and Raelynn Bobbitt; and his great-grandchildren, Ava LaBure and Blakely Helmer. W. C. is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Murray Hartley; his step-mother, Jewell Bobbitt; and his step-father, Fred H. Hartley.

A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a service to begin at 6:00 p.m. with Jerry Jilek officiating. A graveside service will be held at Bobbitt Family Cemetery on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home.

I remember W. C. from Groves Elementary, Jr. High and PN-G High school. We rode the same school bus in high school. He was always a good, considerate classmate. Always had a smile and was courteous with every one My sincere condolences to his family. Their loss is a loss to all of our class mates. Senior class, 1962, PN-G.
